THE BENEFITS OF HOLISTIC CHIROPRACTIC CARE

Modern science would want you to believe that it has all the answers to every single disease out there. However, contrary to popular belief, science doesn’t have all the solutions to most of the conditions people have that are related to their spine and their posture.

Holistic chiropractic care can be a great alternative for people that are suffering from pain, spine misalignments and nervous system issues. Holistic Chiropractic Care Tacoma is absolutely amazing and the results have been proven from hundreds of cases in the past. There are many folks on the internet where the person was suffering from back pain, misaligned bones and even a misaligned posture. Holistic care was able to rectify all of these problems without any modern medicine or invasive surgeries.

To help you understand exactly how holistic chiropractic care is good for you, we’ll talk about the differences between this method and modern medicine.

How Is Holistic Care Different From Other Types of Medicine?

There are many variations between these two techniques, but almost all of them can be incorporated into three major points.

  • In holistic care, the chiropractor will aim to heal every part of the body instead of just treating the part that is currently problematic.
  • If you’re already using modern medicine, you could also use holistic care. The two complement each other and produce amazing results that neither of them could on their own.
  • Regular Chiropractic care can act as a proactive treatment that can heal the body and prevent problems from surfacing in the future.

Pros of Holistic Chiropractic CareTacoma

Dr. Dave, a Tacoma Chiropractor, is trained to do things differently as compared to regular doctors. His job is to focus on the whole body and treat the root of the problem. If you’re having back pain, he won’t give you an x-ray and a few pain killers. Instead a holistic chiropractor will work on your whole body to understand what caused the problem in your back.

This happens because chiropractors aim to fix your entire body instead of just the part that is troubling you. This might seem a bit unnecessary, but it will save you from future problems. Holistic care is more of a permanent solution as opposed to medicine that may make the problem return with a vengeance after a few weeks.

There are quite a few benefits of chiropractic care that medicine fails to provide. Some participants lose weight, feel limber and feel more balanced. On the other hand, medicine can have side-effects instead of having these small benefits. So, we’re pretty sure that it’s clear as to what you need to do.

If you’re currently using modern medicine, we encourage you to give holistic care a shot. We don’t recommend just abandoning modern medicine. You can use both to see how holistic care boosts your health. And, maybe in the near future, you’ll switch completely to this method.

HOW CAN TACOMA CHIROPRACTIC CARE HELP NECK PAIN?

Our neck, which is scientifically called the cervical spine, is one of the most flexible parts of the body. The neck also supports the entire mass of your head, which is almost 12 pounds. So much weight on seven small vertebrae means that it is very easy to get your neck injured. Even standard everyday activities or incorrect postures can damage your neck and cause severe pain. This pain may not even allow you to turn your head properly and that is why you should see a chiropractor ASAP.

Are Chiropractors in Tacoma Even Helpful?

Research posted in the 2007 issue of the Journal of Manipulative and Psychological Therapeutics showed that researchers looked into nine cases that supported the evidence that chiropractic can be more effective as compared to standard medical care. The patients were feeling much better after a chiropractic sessions and in just a few weeks, they were able to completely eliminate their pain.

Visiting a Tacoma Chiropractor

A chiropractor will determine the source of the problem and ask you common questions to understand your posture. For instance, he will ask questions like which side you sleep on, how long do you spend in an office chair, etc.

Then, the doctor will use a little bit of science and perform exams that will make you move around so that he can understand exactly what part of your neck is causing the problem. Other than your neck area, the chiropractor will also go in-depth and try to detect misaligned bones in your spine as well as your shoulder area. If this information isn’t enough, chiropractic care centers also have standard x-ray scanners. If the basic exams don’t work, there are x-rays to help the doctor point out the main problem.

Neck Adjustments

A neck adjustment is a procedure completed by hand where the chiropractor will perform precise stretches to your neck. The doctor will improve the mobility of your spine and restore the previous range of motion. The patient may detect instant relief from the pain as well as any pain and soreness that was experienced in the past.

One session is not enough in most cases. Dr. Dave will design a special treatment plan for each patient. This will include a schedule for visits as well as exercises for you to do at home.

Pediatric Chiropractor Tacoma

Pediatric Chiropractor Tacoma

A lot of adults have been receiving chiropractic care for their back and neck pains and many have shown improved results. Chiropractic has to turned out to be a widespread type of natural recovery today, so it makes sense for children to receive chiropractic care as well.

What can you expect from a pediatric chiropractic Tacoma visit?

The first step is a detailed fitness record from birth until present. This is used to pick out stresses to the body and to speak about health concerns. Next, a physical examination is executed to assess spinal health, function, and alignment. If any misalignments or imbalances are detected, the chiropractor will recommend a course of chiropractic care.

How does a chiropractor treat an infant or child? Primarily this done by specific adjustments aimed to restore optimal spinal mechanics and alignment – which is a manual procedure. Adjustments for the little ones are very different from adults. Pediatric adjustments are very gentle, safe and effective and take into consideration the unique biomechanical properties of the pediatric spine. For an infant, this means a very light touch. Kids enjoy their visits to the chiropractor.

Reasons to have your child’s spine checked:

1) Birth Trauma:

Birth itself is a stressful experience, not only for the mother but for the baby as well. The infant must twist and rotate in a constrained space and there’s capability for injury, mainly to the pinnacle and neck.

A tough or painful labor/delivery necessitating a couple of interventions (such as episiotomy, forceps, vacuum extractor, etc.) can affect the baby. Congenital torticollis is another situation that can be caused by birth trauma and it responds well to chiropractic and other gentle, manual treatments.

2) Developmental Milestone

During development, different milestones are met (such as sitting upright, crawling, standing, walking, etc.). The body must adapt to different stresses placed on it during this time. There is also a tremendous amount of growth and change in the body, such as the development of normal spinal curves. Tumbles and falls can also affect underlying spinal alignment.

3) Injuries Due To Falling

Children fall a lot as they grow up! They may fall off changing tables and sofas as infants; and they will probably fall as they learn to walk and play sports. These falls can be minor traumas or be painful injuries depending on how bad the fall is and how they land. However, a spinal health assessment is necessary regardless of severity,.

4) Backpacks

Backpacks are now the normal way for kids to lug around their school books. An overloaded backpack can have an effect on posture and cause peculiar stresses via the muscular tissues and joints of the spine. Carrying a backpack improperly will cause asymmetric loading and create imbalances in the developing backbone.

5) Postural Stress from Sitting at a desk using electronic device

There is a tendency in most children and teens to slump forward, slouch or sit awkwardly when using electronic devices. Chronic postural stress will impact the developing spine.

6) Emotional stress

Emotional stress can manifest as muscle tension and misalignment. Chiropractic care helps to balance the body and the nervous system. People often report improved mood, energy and sleep when under chiropractic care.

7) Scoliosis

Children have to be screened for scoliosis as this situation normally develops because the spine grows and there is risk for progression. Scoliosis is an extraordinary sideways deviation of the spine which ought to be monitored over time. Some cases of scoliosis are managed by manual therapies and rehab physical exercise.

8) Other childhood issue

Parents may bring their children for chiropractic visits for all kinds of problems, such as: Ear pain/pressure, fluid in the ear, ear infections, allergies, asthma, colic, digestive disorders and others.

Just to clarify, chiropractors do not diagnose or claim to cure organ problems. It is still important to see the pediatrician for diagnosis of this type of condition. However, kids with these problems often benefit from chiropractic care. A body in balance will function better overall; and a nervous system free of interference will allow better healing.

Regardless of pain or symptoms, a spinal health check is an excellent way to determine if the body is functioning at its best.

Chiropractic Care During Pregnancy

4 Benefits of Chiropractic Care During Pregnancy

First of all, chiropractic care for pregnant women is completely safe. These doctors receive special training to accommodate the condition of pregnant women and to ensure that their care doesn’t put the women at risk. Even though all chiropractors receive this training, if you’re just looking for doctors that have certifications in this field, then you should look for people that have a ICPA, CACCP, DACCP or Webster Certifications.

So, now that you know a little bit about pregnancy chiropractors and how safe they actually are, we should list a few things explaining exactly how visiting these doctors can have prenatal and postnatal advantages.

Restoring Pelvic Posture

Pregnant women always have trouble with their pelvic balance. Almost every woman experiences pelvic changes during their pregnancy. If the pelvis isn’t properly aligned, it reduces the space a child has to grow. Chiropractors are well aware on how to get rid of this issue. This technique is called an intrauterine constraint. There are quite a few perks of getting a chiropractor restore pelvic posture. And, one of them is a reduced chance of needing a cesarean or having breaches babies.

Reducing Labor and Deliver Times

If you’ve done your research, you might know how chiropractic care deeply affects your nervous system. When this happens in pregnant women, it greatly prepares them for childbirth. A woman who takes care of her nervous system helps the body communicate as it should and reduce the chances of any unwanted complexities during child birth. The women will have shorter labor and delivery times and they won’t be as uncomfortable and on the edge as most women are during childbirth.

Getting Rid of Pregnancy Symptoms

Pregnancy symptoms are a really bad experience for every woman. Your knees and joint hurt due to all the extra weight you’re carrying. Your neck hurts and it feels like you’re going to vomit any minute. Well, regular visits to a chiropractor can alleviate these symptoms. The doctor can take away the pressure from your joints and allow them to hold the weight of two people. Chiropractic care might not be able to completely get rid of nausea, but it certainly reduce it.

What is a Chiropractor?

What is a Tacoma Chiropractor?

Chiropractors are also called doctors of chiropractic. A chiropractor’s job consists of diagnosing and treating a patient with many fitness issues related to the skeletal and musculoskeletal system. Treating the problems and the consequences of these problems is the primary objective of chiropractic care.

Like many different medical doctors, chiropractors commonly have a routine to get an analysis and to formulate a treatment. This includes a health history and physical as well as other exams and lab tests. X rays and many other types of diagnostic tests may be performed, with an emphasis on the spine and other bones. Chiropractors will look at posture and the spine, and will trace the problems and pains down for treatment.

There are many kinds of therapies in chiropractic, although spine adjustments are the most common. Chiropractors may counsel a patient on health practices like exercise, nutrition, and diet as well as stress management. Some chiropractors will be specialists in areas such as orthopedics, nutrition, internal disorders, sports injuries, whiplash or neurology.

All chiropractors are required to be licensed professionals, and this will take 4 or more years of undergraduate work as well as 4 years of Chiropractic College. Chiropractors must undergo a national board examination and state licensure exam. The majority of state licensing boards ask that a minimum of 2 years undergrad work be completed and many more are now asking that a bachelor’s degree be obtained.

Discover Life chiropractic Tacoma is an efficient team of trained professionals that have excellent knowledge of various adjustments in the human body. Here, we provide best chiropractic care with a combination of science, art, and philosophy of manipulation.

Chiropractic Care for Sciatica

Common treatments of sciatica include taking pain medication or undergoing surgery.
However, there are other alternatives that are far more effective than these treatments. Chiropractic care for sciatica is one of the methods of treating the pain without undergoing surgery. If you happen to be in Washington, you can approach Tacoma Chiropractors to help you manage your pain.

Why Do Kids Need Chiropractic?

Most misalignments (subluxations) occur in children’s spines due to some very common scenarios. In the normal birth process the doctor uses the head to pull the child out of the birth channel creating the potential for misalignment of the neck. Then during learning how to walk, falling off of couches, playing sports, wrestling with siblings, a child undergoes thousands of events that have the potential to subluxate a spine. Since pain neurology is developing often these go unnoticed for years since symptoms are not occurring.

In 2015 a study done by European Osteopaths that revealed that between 91-94 of 100 infants evaluated 6 days to 6 weeks after the birth process had spinal misalignments. The study also noted that the longer the birth process, the more areas were misaligned.

Understanding Shoulder Pain

Shoulder pain arises from the shoulder joint but it can also be caused by pain on the surrounding area particularly the neck, diaphragm, and the heart. This is called referred pain. It is a common symptom in hospital care. Since shoulder pain shares overlapping features, it is important to properly assess it and look for red flags that can lead to better diagnosis and treatments.

What is Wellness Chiropractic?

There are two different types of chiropractors that see patients: Pain relief and wellness.  Pain relief chiropractors are focused solely on getting you pain-free and  they release you from care when that occurs.

Wellness chiropractors are focused on getting to the root cause of the problem that is causing you pain or dis-ease.

Lets look at the difference:

Pain relief chiropractors

focus is on getting you out of pain.  They use a variety of tools, not just adjusting your back, to get relief.  The care plan is directed towards getting you out of pain. You are released from care once you are pain-free with a “call me when you need me.”

The patient often doesn’t know that the problem hasn’t fully been corrected and that over time the subluxation pattern will return back to its pain-generating state. Then the patient has two choices:  go back to get adjusted or say that chiropractic doesn’t work.  Most people come in for pain relief don’t get me wrong.  Isn’t that what we have been brought up on take Tylenol for quick relief, no pain no problem, take aspirin for those normal headaches?  Who has normal headaches  I haven’t had any headaches for years!  But what if there was more to chiropractic?

Wellness chiropractic

is what we focus on at Discover Life Chiropractic.  We have taken the approach that most patients don’t want to be on the revolving pain train;  get out of pain, go a few months, come back in pain, get adjusted, and repeat the cycle.   Wellness chiropractic is focused on detecting your problem that is causing your pain and directing our energy at fixing the problem.  This may involve chiropractic, exercise, massage, posture correction, referrals to other healthcare professionals, nutrition, and weight loss.  By using computerized technology we can image your nerve system and posture to look underneath the surface and see if chiropractic is the answer or one of the answers.  Then we can design a program of chiropractic care and ancillary services that are focused on correcting the cause of your problem.  Then our patients have tools outside the office to self manage their problem on a daily basis.  Wouldn’t you want to help yourself be healthy.  This is why we exercise, diet, manage our stress it helps us become healthier over time.   Our patients are more successful, happier and spend less time and money in my office. Check out our video testimonial page and You Tube videos.  Happy patients with life changing results.  This is why our office is named Discover Life Chiropractic.

No Pain, No Problem

This week in the office I heard things like:

  • Why do my adjustments not hold?
  • Why do I need to get checked?
  • I feel fine I’ll come in next week.

Came up so I thought that I would address them in this blog.

Why do my adjustments not hold?

New chiropractic patients commonly tell me that they are coming in because of pain that started a week or two before.  However, the problem most likely started months or even years ago (see the post:
The Use of Chiropractic During Childhood Development
).

The majority of subluxations (subluxations = a misalignment of the vertebrae in the back that can cause many health problems) occur in childhood but don’t show up for years later.  By that I mean subluxations finally causing a symptom like neck pain, lower back pain, or are aggravated in a work injury or car accident.

Some people associate chiropractic as taking care of spinal complaints and wait until they are in pain to seek care.  So after years of incorrect alignment, posture and function, it doesn’t make sense to say we can achieve correction in a week or two.  How long do you think it will take to get back to or close to proper alignment ff you have had subluxations for 15 years?

Also, most patients go back to the same lifestyle that created the pain and expect to stay in correction.  If  you truly want to stay in alignment as long as you can then you need daily posture exercises, stretching, massage,  proper nutrition, be in shape, and manage your stress.  My patients that do more of these things have better posture, scans and are adjusted the least in my office.

Why do I need to get checked? I feel fine.  I will wait until next week or month to get adjusted.

My staff hears this comment often.  When we call inactive patients this is the most common response to not wanting their free check-up.  The medical system is to blame for this idea.  Simply if you feel fine then you must be healthy.  If you have a symptom then take a drug, get rid of the symptom, stay on the drug for the rest of your life, be symptom free but ignore why the body is giving you a symptom.  SOMETHING IS WRONG!!  Your body gives you symptoms like high blood pressure, headaches, neck pain, and allergies because something is wrong.  If you treat the cause then you won’t have symptoms because you addressed the problem.  I just got research across my desk that if your spine isn’t adjusted at least every two weeks then permanent degenerative changes will occur(arthritis).  Since only 10% of the nerves in your body sense pain, and most pains occur after the disease or subluxation has been there for years why should I wait until you hurt to adjust you?  How many two-week cycles of degenerative changes have occurred in your body before you got adjusted or maybe you have never been adjusted.  BIG PICTURE  if the hard bone is decaying then what is happening to the soft nerve?  This is why we invested in Surface EMG and posture scans  so we can look at potential problems and fix them before you feel them. What  if C1-2 goes out of alignment, doesn’t irritate the nerve that causes pain at this level(headaches), but stresses your immune system, weakening it so you start to suffer from sinus problems and allergies3 or 4 years later.  What if it creates postural imbalances in the head and shoulders potentially leading to scoliosis or pain problems years in the future.  How long do you want to wait to get adjusted?  Until you finally get the pain pattern that nerve produces(headache) or when this cascade of poor health starts, within minutes of subluxating(going out of alignment).  This is my philosophy of health for me and my family adjustments once a week and medication as the last resort.  Its the best program I have see in practice and it helps me manage you care and health more effectively.
